"The young virtuoso Iosif Ioan Liviu shows here that he is a worthy successor to famous players such as Gheorghe Zamfir and Simion Stanciu. On this album we find all the magic of the "king of Romanian folk instruments," accompanied by the musicians of the Crai Nou Ensemble. The Crai Nou Folk Ensemble was formed in 1965. The ensemble is composed mainly of students from the Brasov Conservatory (dancers plus a group of musicians), whose talent is regularly acclaimed by the international press. With its director Petrisor Varga, Crai Nou has won several prizes at folk festivals in Romania and throughout Eastern Europe. On this album, the ensemble presents folk music from the different regions of Romania: Transylvania (central), Muntenia and Oltenia (south), Banat (southwest), Dobruja (southeast), Moldavia (east), and Oas (north). It includes slow traditional pieces (doina, rora, purtata, inuirtita) as well as very fast ones (sirba, hora, hartegana and joc de doi)."
